Aspire to Inspire | Leon Legge's Story
I (Lorrie) am truly honoured to be given permission to share a bit of Leon's professional and personal journey on my blog.
A bit of background:
Leon Legge is a Proud husband, Proud father, and a Former Professional Footballer ⚽️ from the UK, Blogger at Epilepsy Baller that is transitioning in to sports media + a coach at Ferdinand Collective, who just happens to have Epilepsy. Leon used to be a carer for adults with learning disabilities, so he arrived a bit late to starting his footballer career at age 24. He is an Ambassador for Young Epilepsy Charity, a coach at Ferdinand Collective, and has had almost 500 appearances in the football league, even with Epilepsy, it has never stopped him from achieving his dream.
• At what age did Leon experience his first seizure?
- Leon had his very first epileptic seizure in 2001 at the age of 16, he was at a training session with a youth/non-league team at that time.
- Event: He headed a ball in to the air, felt light headed apon landing, and lost control of his body. - Responce: The coach recognized the signs as his own child had Epilepsy, and an ambulance took Leon to the hospital.

Fast forward to 2026:
Leon wants you to know that he is no longer playing professional football but, the game is still very much a part of his life. Over the past couple of seasons he has stepped in to new roles, talking about Port Vale, and developing radio skills with BBC Radio Stoke + more. Leon is grateful for every opportunity.
This new chapter has also opened the door for Leon to create more content about two things he is most passionate about:
⚽️ Football
💜 Raising Awareness about living with Epilepsy
Leon is excited to keep building, keep creating, and keep sharing insights that can inspire, educate, and spark conversations.
