Driving With Epilepsy in Canada (BC)


After doing the previous blog page on Driving with Epilepsy in the United States, i decided one needed to be done about Driving with Epilepsy in Canada, particularly British Columbia, as that is where i live. To do this i needed to seek proper advice on where to get the right information to share, I'm so very grateful and would like to give a HUGE HUGE Shoutout and tremendous THANK YOU  to Vancouver Lawyer Kyla Lee, they pointed me in the right direction.

With the help of Kyla Lee , here is what I've learnt about Driving with Epilepsy in Canada (BC) , from RoadSafeBC's POV : 

What are Seizures? - 

  



Seizures may occur in people who do not have Epilepsy. These non-epileptic seizures are often referred to as provoked seizures. Some are caused by transient factors with no structural brain abnormality, such as 
During my research, I've also learned that, in general, people with Epilepsy have an increased risk of adverse driving outcomes. Studies of crash rates indicate that the following factors are a higher risk for those with Epilepsy,  such as : 
Guidelines for Assessment: 
The general approach of the guideline for drivers with Epilepsy or those who experience seizures is that it must be controlled as a prerequisite for driving.
The Information on Driving with Epilepsy in Canada, particularly BC is so very valuable.
